Concrete cancer found just in time in Como

We see a lot of these concrete awnings as they were often added to Californian Bungalow type housing in the 1940's and 1950's. Given their age the concrete is no longer providing any protection to the reinforcing and it is now beginning to rust.

This example in Como is a good example of severe concrete cancer along the leading edge of the suspended concrete awning.

The limestone retaining wall around the verandah itself also needs some attention; limestone wall repointing will help to prevent further deterioration of the wall.
